    This is my main worry when I loose more weight. My clothes are already baggy (especially my trousers and jeans) but I was clever (or lucky) that I kept a lot of jeans from when I was 18 which are size 14 that now fit me again. No idea what I'll do when I get to target as I have no money to buy new clothes! Also you look amazing, what a transformation! :)

      Thank you! That means a lot ? It's so frustrating to be so proud but kind of frustrated that I can't buy clothes right now...its most annoying for work because all of my work clothes just look a bit unprofessional now! I think the best thing to do is buy the staple things first - jeans, a few tops etc because then you can build on that! Good luck!!

    Add a layer of the smoked salmon, covering to the edges. Repeat in layers until you use up all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of smoked salmon. Press down firmly. Cover with cling film.

      Thanks! They're really good, I tried a risotto with them last night and I'll be posting that recipe soon, they make such a great alternative to just using chicken and it just helps to shake things up a little bit :) xx

    Great post hon, I'm doing something similar! I'm trying to hit my step goal each day (apart from Sundays, I rest on Sundays!) and I want to lose at least a pound a week, although, like you 7lbs would be awesome!! Much luck to you. Kxxx

      Hi Laura, I think you're right in saying that's something lots of people can relate to! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I'm really glad that you found the post interesting. I definitely go through phases of eating because I feel very happy with everything, but it's very closely tied with my weight and if I do that then I over eat and put on weight, which leads to more emotional eating because I get sad! It's a vicious cycle but one that's becoming less and less of an issue, so hopefully this piece has helped you too :) x

    I follow slimming world and after I came across this post I got excited. Unfortunately after looking into I can confirm that the tesco bread mix is actually syned. 11 syns for 100g. And nowhere in the healthy extra b choice part of my book does it say that any kind of flour can be used. You may want to remove this to stop fellow dieters thinking they can have pizza this way

      Hi Jayne, actually there are certain wholemeal bread mixes (not individual flours) which can be used as your HexB and this has been confirmed by Slimming World. Tesco bread mix is one of these, as is the Asda one, and I think there's an Aldi one out there too that you can use. It's due to the levels of fibre used in them and this being enough to make them qualify for your HexB. Thank you for your input, but I promise you that I've looked into this a lot before posting and I can confirm that all of the information above is correct. Thank you again, Cliona

          I have just joined Sw online and have made this- it was delicious. I used the Tesco bread mix so hope it is a Hexb as can't find it anywhere on the list but I am new to all this so may not be looking in the right place. Thank you for a delicious and filling pizza .         Can I ask...u use 500g of bread mix but only 60g is used as hex...so a whole pizza wud b so many syns right??

          Hi Hayley, the recipe is for making multiple pizzas. As written above you use 60g for your one pizza and then save the rest/make up more bases as you wish :)

      You can still do the recipe but with Aldi wholemeal bread mix or Asda wholemeal bread mix as your HEXB

    I have looked on the website and the only two bread mixes that can be used as a heb option are aldi the pantry crusty wholemeal bread mix and asda chosen by you wholemeal bread mix. And these both state a 60g slice is heb, not the whole packet made up

      Hi Jayne, as you can see in the recipe the dough once made up is portioned into 60g portions, to make sure it stays within your HexB options. The Tesco mix has also been confirmed, I just don't think it's on the app/site yet. If you're unsure though just stick to the Asda or Aldi versions to help make yourself feel comfortable.       Hi Rob, sorry I've not put that on there! I have it quite low when I make these, to dry them out rather than burn them. Try it on 140 :) Keep an eye on them though, as different people's ovens seem to work differently, and because they're so thin they can turn quite quickly! Very much worth it though, they're so tasty!

I really enjoyed the insights you shared in this post, particularly the importance of devising strategies to circumvent or deal with the triggers.       Hi Aliyah, wow that's one of the loveliest comments I've ever had. It means so much to me that you have taken the time to post, and read my blog, and that it resonates with you. Your positivity helps me stay focused, thank you! If I can give one piece of advice to perhaps help when you do have one of those days where you're down or stressed...make sure to get up and away from whatever it is you're doing at least once ever 2 hours. Take 10 minutes to make a cup of tea, walk outside, listen to some music, or just breath for a few minutes without doing anything work related. It has been proven to lower stress levels and you might not feel the need to pick at food! Hope that helps :) x

    Looks great but wouldnt it be 60g of baked mix once cookeddrather than 60g of dough x

      Hi Jo, yes you're right. The only problem is that without lots of trail and error you don't know how much dough would make 60g cooked...it's likely to be about 63g of wet dough but without trying lots of different bases (without toppings) I wouldn't know. Therefore to be safe, and make sure that you don't go out of your HexB range I'd stick with 60g wet dough. However, it's up to personal preference and if you'd prefer to cook more dough as the base without toppings and then weigh it and remove bits to get 60g exactly then that's absolutely fine too! Personally I like to bake my pizza with the toppings on, so I just stick with 60g wet dough and know that perhaps I'm eating 57g of cooked dough for example. Hope that helps! x

    You say the bread mix is your HexB as well as the mozzarella is HexB your only allowed on HexB a day unless your doing an SPAIN day otherwise the mozzarella would be sunned.

    Hi. I couldn't find the mix in tesco when I popped in today. I saw a Wholegran flour mix but that was the closest I could find so I left it....So I'll check my local Aldi instead. It's very kind of you to go to the trouble of making this post for everyone. Thank you for your time and suggestions. I still haven't been brave enough to try that cauliflower based pizza recipe so hopefully this means I won't have to! Take care.

      Hi Louise, sorry its taken me a while to reply! I don't know exactly but I'd reckon probably about 57g. You could always do what I do and make up the rest and just freeze what you don't need in handy portions to use another time! Good luck x

    Hi! Love this recipe and am currently using it. The pizza in your picture isn't a 60g one is it? Mines turned out quite small so I'm quite sad but hey ho pizzas pizza!! ? Everyone else's just look bigger than mine!!!

      Oh no that's what I was worried about when I made this! But I think by turning the hob off before adding the egg you avoid the excess heat and just use the left over heat from the dish. Definitely make sure to toss it lots though and don't leave it to stand until you've taken it off the heat completely :) Good luck and feel free to Tweet/Instagram a pic at me and I'll always reshare :) xx

    This sounds great. I'm a foodie following slimming world at the moment too. You get loads of Parmesan for your HEX so I think I'll go extra cheese and use it all when I make this. I like to add peas to mine too.

      Thanks Mandy! It's a strangely wonderful ingredient, I use it to make KFC style chicken too and to thicken gravy and sauces instead of flour! If you'd have told me that I'd be using Smash 9 months ago before I joined Slimming World I probably would have laughed though! Loving the link up this week, it's looking fab! x

      Thanks Martin! It's such a great idea isn't it! Personally I prefer it to breadcrumbs, because with breadcrumbs everything feels like a chicken goujon (which I love) but it doesn't lead to a lot of variety! Let me know how you get on with it :)

    Oooh mayo and spring onion sounds like a good dip, and I always have these in the fridge, and never know what to have with sweet potato fries! I'm giving this extra long cooking time a go tonight - mine are usually a pathetic limp flop that embarrasses both me and the sweet potato!

      The Heinz Mayo is delicious and works really well with the spring onions because it's quite smooth and mild! My other half had previously banned me from making sweet potato chips because they were so limp and sad, now he loved these so I must be doing something right! It just meant pushing past my comfortable cooking time! Thanks for commenting ?

      Hi Paul, as far as I'm aware there isn't another icing sugar sweetener, but you may find one if you have a really thorough Google. I wouldn't try just regular sweetener as I don't think you would get the same result, is there a reason you don't want to use the Sukrin one?       Thank you very much Janine! It's a bit of a pain but I don't think you can get the Sukrin Icing Sugar in stores, I got mine on Amazon when I discovered it existed! There is a link in the text of the post to take you to the page on Amazon. I think you can also get it on Muscle Foods which is great, but you would obviously have to order past their £25 minimum so it's a good place to get it when you're doing a meat shop with them (if you do, they're amazing!). Choc Shot is however very available in stores, it's usually somewhere near the hot chocolate! Thanks for commenting!

      Hi Caroline, so sorry to hear that! Did you use powdered gelatin like in the recipe? You have to completely dissolve it in water before adding it to the cheese. Hope that helps? X

        Hi Cliona, your recipe says 50mls of water is this correct, only the gelatine pack says each pack makes 1 pint of water & that you should add much more water than 50 mls, I have just made this cheese cake & the gelatine went into a complete lump just like Carolines did so now I have a cheese cake without the gelatine ahhh ! is it likely to set at all ? please can you reply asap - Thanks

          Hi Stacey, thanks for commenting. Did you use boiling water? If it isn't dissolving then pop the gelatin with a little more boiling water (another 50mls) in the microwave for 10/20 seconds and that should do it ? Hope that helps!

            yes it all dissolved no problem, the problem occurred when I added it to the cheese mixture ? it pretty much set straight away which is what makes me think the gelatine should have been added to much more water than 50 mls ?

    Hi yes I did - I sieved the cheese mix to get rid of the lumps and then added that to more dissolved gelatine, it is slightly jelly looking bit ill give it a try - it doesn't look beautiful like yours! Xx

      I'm sure it looks lovely! I've never had that issue with the gelatine, so I'm not 100% sure what to suggest as it always stirs in perfectly for me! If you make it again maybe use 100mls first, also allow it to cool slightly before adding incase the sudden hot to cold makes it lumpy (the only think I can think of!) hope you enjoy it! ?

    I made it yesterday and IT IS absolutely gorgeous! I wasn't able to wait for the Sukrin order, so decided to take the bull by the horns and use granulated sweetener (mine is from Lidl and is called Cologran, the one with the yellow lid). It works perfectly well, in fact you just wouldn't know. I didn't weigh it as it's so light, but added it by taste. In other words, once it was sweet enough for me I stopped adding it! This cheesecake is seriously lovely and looks great too! I've added a photo of it to my SW group Facebook page and there have been lots of admiring comments! Well done on creaing this, Cliona. This will be a staple on my dessert menu,

      Hi Dee, have you read the recipe? Philadelphia Lightest can be used as your healthy extra a option and therefore per slice you are using 1/3 of that which makes this Syn free as mentioned a few times above. If you aren't using it as such though yes you would have to Syn it. I hope that helps! Cliona

    These so look delicious, Cliona!. Like you, I love Bonne Maman. I lived in France for a year when I was a student and totally fell in love with their jams. There is not much better in life than a freshly cooked croissant from a Parisian bakery liberally smothered in Bonne Maman jam...That was pretty much my breakfast every Saturday for a whole year - all I can say is, it's a jolly good job I lived on the 6th floor, with no lift!! :-) I've never come across the rhubarb version though, I will have to keep my eyes peeled for that one as it sounds lovely.

I grew up going to France a lot and went to school there for a term when I was younger and some of my clearest memories are of pastries and Bonne Maman jam too!       Hi Anne, thanks so much for commenting! Quark is a type of cream cheese, but it tastes and looks a bit more like a thick yoghurt. On its own it's quite tasteless however it's a fabulous healthy cooking ingredient! I use it for loads of things!

      Hi Karen, did you mix the gelatin with the water until it was completely smooth? If so it shouldn't have gone lumpy. However perhaps try adding 20/30mls more boiling water next time, it might make a difference! Hope that helps!

      Hi Rags, I haven't tried it in a vegetarian way however I know that you can buy veggie gelatin which I presume would just be used in the same way! If you get some it should tell you how to substitute it on the packaging. Hope that helps!

      Hi Heidi, there aren't any other icing sugar sweeteners, I do know that people have tried it with regular granulated sweetener and it works but it's not quite as nice. You can buy Sukrin through the link in the post on Amazon or on Muscle Foods ? hope that helps!

          Hi Elizabeth, the Sukrin sweeteners are sold out in a lot of places right now unfortunately which has driven up the price of the ones on Amazon super high! They have let me know that they'll be getting more in soon though so this price should go down very soon! Last time I ordered it it was about £4 a pack so it will go down!

      Hi Abigail, no problem! It's powdered mashed potato, the instant kind where you add water and it makes mash. I've never used it as mash but it makes an amazing coating when dry! Hope that helps :)

    Sounds amazing, Cliona. I'm totally with you on the make meals differently thing. It's so amazing how a few simple changes to your favourites can make all the difference. I am always adapting meals to make them healthier - I find upping the veggies and changing the carbs to wholegrain makes an enormous difference and also tastes nicer and is so much more nutritious, meaning not only do you lose weight but you also feel better too. And all without depriving yourself! Well done with your fabulous weight loss, hope you reach your goal soon!! Eb x

    This sounds absolutely amazing Cliona - and I completely agree having the cheese melt in 'big bubbly mess' is delicious. Although hubby & I don't eat meat, this could easilt be changed to make it vegetarian and still be a winner. I've got so many recipes on here though which hopefully will help keep you on track! Slimming World was the answer to my weight loss problems. It's the easiest thing I've ever done and I've lost almost four stone in the last year! I really hope you are successful! There are lots of great groups on Facebook for people who are doing it at home on their own, or just need support, so they might be helpful! If you search the different categories on my blog hopefully you'll find plenty to keep you going. The most important thing to remember is that pretty much everything can be made to be Slimming World friendly with just a few tweaks! If you ever need advice feel free to ask, I've gone through most of it! X

    Just made this & it was lush!! Easily serves 4 if you serve with SW chips/wedges or a side salad. Hopefully it's just as nice for my lunch tomorrow :D! For me personally I'd only use 1 teaspoon rather than tablespoon of mixed herb (not a huge fan of it), also I made a BBQ sauce (I found a free syn one on another forum, as I don't like tomato base pizzas) I think I'd mix a bit in with the meat as well as putting it on top, obviously not too much as it wouldn't stay combined but just enough to mix extra flavour in & stop it from being bland (as I wouldn't be using the whole amount of mixed herbs). P.S I've bookedmarked your page as my mum & I went through you're recipes & they'res some lovely looking ones we'd like to try :) x

    I lost 11.5st on SW, and just wanted to add that there could be an underlying medical reason if you ARE sticking 100% to plan. I went 4 months on plan, with only 8 days off plan and lost nothing. Turns out I have an under-active thyroid and a condition called Lipoedema, which is abnormal fat distribution, my legs will never be slim. I got to 13st 9.5lbs and nothing would shift anymore. X

It's very true that if you are really struggling and still over weight then there may indeed be a medical condition. It sounds to me like you've done fantastically well, so you should be so proud! x

      Hi Julie, thank you so much for commenting. First of all, congratulations on your fantastic loss, you should never think of it as only one and a half stone! That's a huge amount of weight to lose, I know it can be really disheartening when you see other people losing loads and loads and your journey is slightly more scenic, but that doesn't make your journey any less incredible or any less worthwhile. I don't know how much weight you have to lose in total, but it may be that your body is closer to a healthy level and therefore loses less quickly. I have struggled a lot to lose since getting my three stone award, because my body is less unhealthy now. This might help, I wrote it the other day and it could help identify some little things you could change - https://basementbakehouse.com/2016/08/reasons-you-might-not-be-losing-weight-on-slimming-world/ :) Other than that, I think it's really important to remember that the plan is designed in a specific way and if we deviate from that it might well not work as well as it should. There are usually things that we do that compromise the effectiveness of the plan itself, so identifying those can be very helpful. Try writing everything you eat down (without fail!) for a week and then feel free to share that with me and I might be able to help. Do you attend a group? I find it very motivational to listen to everyone and you get so many helpful hints and tips at group. You might go to one already in which case you'll know that! If you do, what I know can often be very helpful is sitting in on the new member talk again, my consultant encourages that when we are struggling and I know lots of people find it very helpful! I hope I've given you some useful tips, but let me know if there's anything specifically that you're struggling with :) x

      I freeze as dough but you could do either depending on what is easiest for you. If you cook it first don't cook it all the way though, just part way and then finish as you defrost (like one of the frozen pizzas you buy! ?

    Hi, when you freeze up the extra potions do you roll them out into pizza bases or keep as balls of dough?? What do you do when defrosted, can you just roll out like before? Sorry but I've never frozen dough before!!!

      Hi Ken, no you would have to account for the syns in the non free food items in the recipe ? that would be the oats, dates and cream cheese and then include the originally synned items too. I hope that helps!

    Hello! I tried making this today but it didnt rise around the edge and so it was more like a tortilla pizza than a normal one! I did forget to prove the dough so I portioned it and put it in the freezer for about 3mins before realising. Tookthem out, set them next to a warm over for 40mins and they grew in size. I put them back in the freezer, defosted one and put it in the fridge until I got home. Do you have any idea on what it was that I did wrong to cause the dough not to rise....the only thing I can think is that it was because it was in the freezer for a few mins or that I stored it in the fridge before using. Any advice would be great as I really want this to work!

      Hi Chloe, thanks for commenting. What may have happened is that the dough was under proved because of the time in the fridge, this would have slowed the yeast down and just meant that the dough hadn't developed enough before you cooked it. I've never had any problem with the defrosted dough if I've proved it the first time round so hopefully that will help! Let me know next time you try it! :)

        Mine also turned out like a thin tortilla round the edges and was totally soggy and under cooked where there was sauce ? it didn't rise in the oven at all?? I proved it properly and it rose then before either knocked it back and rolled it out...any ideas???

          Unfortunately I'm not sure what the answer is! I know that the age of the packet mix can make a difference (I made a loaf of bread the other day using it that went terribly because it had been sat in my cupboard for a while!) but other than that I really don't know. The edges normally only rise a little in the oven, any area with sauce or toppings won't really rise but the edges should go up a tiny bit at least! You may have rolled it out too thin which is the only other thing I can think of. Maybe leave it a little thicker next time to give the dough something to work with :) Hope that helps!

    I too found that you could use bread mix to make pizza; it was a thing of joy but my wholemeal bread mix wasn't brilliant. I will certainly mix a whole packet next time and freeze it! I will roll it out thinner too as mine was a bit c laggy! I made a pizza sauce from passata, onions, mixed herbs and garlic. I froze the rest of the sauce so that i can just whack it together when I get the urge!

      Hi Heather, unfortunately the sainsburys one isn't officially a HexB choice from Slimming World. However I have seen them say in the past that using an alternative isn't likely to harm you weight loss, for example when people have used unbranded versions of cheese instead of the ones that are official Healthy Extras. It's really up to you but it definitely isn't an official one. Hope that helps!

      Officially Slimming a World can only confirm packet mixes as HexB because they can test them out. They aren't therefore able to officially say that homemade versions are HexB however it's up to you! I'd recommend working out the fibre content of the packet mix and making sure the nomads version you're doing is the same, that way there won't be much in it! For example, I make my own pasta which Slimming World have said they can't confirm as syn free but 'is unlikely to effect weight loss' ? I hope that helps!

      No it doesn't, it firms up but it's a liquid chocolate sauce so it doesn't go solid. You could definitely use regular chocolate though!

    Hello, this is a wonderful cheesecake o thanks for that. I actually bought two tubs of quark by mistake and only 1 tub of Philly and it worked out just fine too. I also substituted the icing sugar for sweetener and put in frozen strawberries and raspberries (defrosted)and mixed it up. It was super delicious so thanks for that.

    Absolutely wonderful?I love pizza and have one once a week! After reading the comments n advise,excitedly I got myself to Asda to buy the bread mix but got confused (not unusual in my case!) So I bought the wholemeal n white - just wanted to be safe as Asda always seems to runout. If you can advise, which would be best? Secondly, I use mozzarella light from lidl and also mix in WW small amount of cheese is this okay? Am I doing this right? Please help!!!

      Hey, sorry I didn't reply sooner! I was away and didn't check the comments (just a little week's holiday!). You'd need to use the wholemeal mix in order for it to be HexB and it's no problem mixing the cheeses as long as you work it out to fit within your HexA!

      Hi Jason! Thanks so much for your lovely comment, I'm really pleased you like it! It is quite a thin pizza, it often will puff up slightly in the oven around the bits without any topping on, but once it gets too hot the yeast dies so won't rise any more. If you do want to have a slightly thicker base, you could try allowing it to rise when rolled out, although I don't know how well that would work! Again, thanks for the lovely comment :)

    Thankyou so much for this recipe I love it!! Had it twice since Saturday!! Managed to get 10 balls for the freezer, the first time I had it was on a sp day so I doubled the amount of dough but was just as good having half the amount I just make sure I roll it as thin as I can!

      It's not essential, but it makes it into a sauce :) it will be cooked promise! You can always just use cheese instead but it won't be quite the same :)

      You add the stock cube to the water when you're cooking the mash ? then you retain the 50mls of that water at the end to mash in with the potatoes. Hope that helps! Glad you like my recipes!

    This was really interesting. This is definitely where I have been going wrong in the past with Slimming World and thinking oh it doesn't work for me. I've re-joined for about the 5th time and am determined to do it properly. In the past I have been having things like a tin of mushy peas in between meals as a snack, now I realise I should be having speed fruit or veg or protein. I didn't even know there were such a thing as tweaks!! Thanks so much

    Your steak and mushroom tagliatelle looks delicious. It's so refreshing to see someone saying carbs are ok in moderation, I love pasta. I'm try to eat healthily and struggle with my weight ( I had knee replacements over a year ago now and I can't do the amount of exercise I used to be able to do).       Thank you Sarah! I LOVE carbs and simply can't do without them, which is what makes Slimming World so perfect for me! You can still eat pasta, rice, bread and potatoes just in moderation. It's a winner in my books! I've always struggled with my weight, and no matter how much I try I'm just not a gym bunny. A lifestlye plan that means I can basically eat the same as ever (with a few tweaks) and still lose weight sounded way too good to be true, but that was almost 4 stone ago so I'm pretty pleased!     Just found your page and I'm loving 'everything'thank you for sharing. I am really struggling at the mo, I have lost 4st 8lbs and am feeling amazing. My daughters wedding is next March and I start my own dress fittings in January so had planned to hit the 5st plus by then.I must stay at that weight until end of March. I am an apple shape and still am, I had hoped there might have been a waist there, but as yet I have still to find it. I have so many positive things to say about SW but for me getting into an '18' has been my main target and I am still not there, and this is totally getting to me, I have just had to go out and buy size 20 clothes for a Crimbo party,I am gutted.

      Hi Libby, I'm so sorry for the delay in coming back to your comment. First of all I'm so glad you found my page, and thank you for sharing your struggles with me! You have done an amazing thing so far, you've lost a huge amount of weight and you should be immensely proud of yourself! You have to remember that some people are just built differently to others, and that defining ourselves by other people's ideas of beauty is just not the right thing to do. You can look smashing waist or no waist, the most important thing is to feel comfortable in yourself. Don't brush all of the positive comments away just because you aren't quite where you want to be yet, soak them in and let them boost you up! I know how you're feeling as I've been struggling recently, gaining instead of losing, and it's been tough. If losing weight was easy we'd all be the perfect size, but it's as journey and a long one at that. Size 20 is so close to size 18, you're so almost there and I have no doubt you'll look stunning at your daughter's wedding next March...saying that I'm more than certain you'll look absolutely to die for at the crimbo party too! Good luck on your journey :) x

      You eat it cold ? it's not steal cut oatmeal (which I know is often the case in the states) it's made with rolled oats which are softer so when you leave it with the yogurt Overnight it gets soft and it's almost like cake! It's a very different taste and experience to eating oatmeal, it's more like having granola with yogurt, just softer! Because it's with yogurt you don't get the soggy cold oatmeal sensation I promise. That might not be the best description though, it's definitely worth giving a go if you've never tried it, people often find it quite surprising!

      I got about 12 out of the mixture but it's very dependent on how big or small you make them ? with the 80g Mozzarella they'd be 1 syn if you make 12. Hope that helps! X

            REGGAE REGGAE SAUCE 1 TSP MEDIUM CHILLI POWDER, GARLIC, GINGER AND ALLSPICE HALF A CARTON OF PASSATA 3 TBSP ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER (I used sukrin) 4 TBSP BALSAMIC VINEGAR 1 TBSP WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE I used hot chilli sauce instead of medium and boiled it all in a pan, reducing slightly via simmering. If you don't have all spice (like I didn't), it's 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of cloves (I kept them whole and removed them once cooked) and 1/4-1/2 tsp of nutmeg.

    These mushrooms are calling my name! I love mushrooms and I would gladly have them every day, but I don't because the rest of my family think it's the food of the devil (or something along those lines) so I'm not always allowed to cook them (they whine about the smell - what is wrong with my family!). I can imagine these babies served on top of a nice big slice of wholemeal toast with a poached egg on top! On another note, I'm putting together a list of foods that are Christmassy (ish) and could feature on a 'free from' table. Your fried mushrooms are perfect for that.       I feel your pain Mel, my boyfriend hates them! I do tend to put them in things and tell him to pick them out though...I'm the one doing the cooking after all! My mum had the same issue when we were growing up as I loved them and my brother and sister hated them, they do seem to be one of those things in life! I'm definitely having these on toast next time, and a poached egg would make it for sure!     Unfortunately sweetener is now 1/2 syn per tbsp :( . Do u use the full 200g of sukrin?

      Hi Tanya, I wrote this recipe long before Slimming World decided to syn sweetener, however in posts since I have talked about how personally I don't do this. As your limited to one slice because of your Healthy Extras you can only have a limited amount of this cheesecake, unlike for instance the 1/2 syn cake which you could eat the entirety of. I have lost almost four stone without synning sweetener as have many people before me so it's just not something that I'm going to do. However if you prefer to do so then you can of course syn the sweetener in this cheesecake to protect your own weight loss journey. Hope that helps!

      Hi Carla, thanks for your comment! For fresh pasta just cook as per the packet instructions (a few minutes usually) and then add as normal as per the recipe above. I'm sure you're aware but if you're following Slimming World you need to syn fresh pasta (although I don't if I make it myself!) ? hope that helps!

    Actually, if you mx a small amount of mincemeat into stewed apple ( you really need a very small amount to give you the mincemeat tsetse) you can lessen the sins even more!!!! And if you want "cream" with them, add sweetener and vanilla extract to either low fat creme fraiche or fromage frais and hey pesto!!! Diet? What diet??!!

    Oh I love this twist on mince pies - I have so filo in the fridge right now and was just thinking about something similar. I'll have to try a different binder to the egg though, so probably back to some vegetable butter :)

    I've never claimed to be an early adopter to anything, but this is the first time I've heard of a "syn". What is it? Low-carb? Low sugar? Your tarts look fab!

      Thanks Lisa! A syn is quite a specific term so I'm not surprised you've not heard of it, don't worry! It's specific to the Slimming World plan, which is really big here in the UK and growing (I believe) in the states! It's a weight loss plan, not a diet more of a lifestyle change, made up of free foods (lean meat, fat free dairy, eggs, vegetables, pasta, potatoes, rice, herbs, spices etc...), synned foods (chocolate, pastry, oil etc...) and 'Healthy Extras' which are measured amounts of fibre and dairy. It sounds like a bit of a maze but it makes it super simple to create recipes using individually synned ingredients and it's a diet which is based on home cooking which is great! Hope that explains it a little!

      You really have to try an all butter shortcrust pastry version from a UK supermarket (M&S preferably) to get the full effect....It's a sweet pastry designed to put weight on for Winter, hence we have to have a low fat version for Slimming World. Sigh.....?

    I am loving these diet friendly versions of party food you are making - what a brilliant idea to stay on plan. And these gorgeous mince pies look fab - I love your idea for using filo pastry, I'll have to try that! I make my own shortcrust pastry without sugar, which helps make them healthier, and I actually prefer them that way! I have been working on reducing my sugar intake over the last year and as a result I don't like really sugary things any more. Most biscuits, cake and chocolates just taste horrible now - which is great for keeping me healthier. Now I snack on things like oatcakes and apples - and actually enjoy them more than sweet treats - crazy huh? Eb x

    Oooh yum! I do love a garlicky mushroom and yours look amazing! I totally agree about filling up your plate with veggies, the more the better in my book!! They are all so chock full of goodness...and of course also good for waistlines!! I was interested to hear your thoughts on the lazy garlic - I have often seen it in shops and wondered about it. I use a lot of garlic, so it would make my life much simpler - does it taste as nice as the fresh stuff? Eb x

I really liked the lazy garlic, when you fry it at first it has quite a vinegary smell because I guess it's preserved in vinegar but it makes life so much easier! You can't really beat fresh garlic, but this is great for quick and easy recipes and it does add lots of flavour! x

    I'm not a goddess in the kitchen so my attempt to follow this recipe appears to have failed. I weighed out 25g of filo & cut it into what i thought to be 2 inch squares however, i had nowhere near enough to make 10 piles of 8 squares......where did i go wrong?

      I'm sure they haven't failed! Use the guide of 5g per mince pie which might work better. It might be that you have a different kind of filo which is packaged differently ?

        The filo i used was Just Rol, 25g was about half of one sheet, maybe a 12in square......does that sound right? They taste nice but i only managed to get 5 teeny ones so worried about getting the syns right x

    I have stuffed squash before but never butternut. It has such a sweet mild flavor I'm sure it's the perfect backdrop for this quinoa. Love your addition of pomegranate arils too. I put them in everything when they are in season!

    Stuffed squash like this are one of my favorite kinds of dishes -- so hearty and flavorful, but still super healthy! I'm like you, a meat eater, but I love mixing up my meals with vegetarian and even vegan dishes. I feel like it pushes me to be more creative and try new things, and of course, it means more people can enjoy my food. Bonus!

    I tried this recipe today using the limited food I already had in the fridge. Easy to prepare and I like the fact you can be flexible with the contents. I mixed peas and bacon with the quinoa and squash. However in future I'll be looking to use mushrooms,peppers, pine nuts, chicken, tomatoes, sweet corn. The list is endless.

    That is such a cool gadget! I love how simple it is to use. I have made my own sushi in the past...but a looong time ago. And I remember it being rather fiddly. I do not think that Slimming World is an expensive diet, compared to others I find it really economical as you are having mainly fresh produce and cooking from scratch.     This sounds awesome! And very much not what you'd expect from 'diet food'!! I love your food philosophy of not making two meals but just making your Slimming World meal super tasty so no one's going to complain - genius and much more sustainable than making two meals every night. I do pretty much the same thing for my family, really - I cook healthy and delicious (not to mention easy peasy) meals for everyone so we all stay healthy - well so long as I also hide the bicuit tin ;-) Eb x

    HI Cliona, Thank you for this recipe I cant wait to try it :) One question because it makes 4 portions and your only using 356 of cheese from HEA would this mean that the cheese allowance is divided by 4? So would only be 8.75grams of cheese per portion? Therefore you could use the rest of your cheese allowance on something else? I hope this makes sense :)

    This looks absolutely scrummy Cliona, and butternut squashes lend themselves so well to being filled don't they. I have to agree, as a vegetarian we are last to be thought of and often do have a very limited menu to chose from when eating out. I tend to find that there's always goats' cheese on the menu - which happily I like - but can definitely get a bit samey! Angela x

    Hi did you put the whole pan in the oven to bake? ( was the handle ok?) Or did you just grill it with the handle left outside the oven? Sorry sounds like a silly question.

      Not a silly question! You can pop the pan in if it's oven safe and fits but otherwise putting it under the grill with the handle out works great too!

    Thanks, Cliona - looks great! I slow-cooked a whole chicken yesterday and was going to make a curry with it this evening. Now I think I'll make this soup instead. I wasn't really 'FEELING' curry today!!! Quick question based on Julie's comment about adding pasta: do you think you could cook a little pasta with the chicken (when cooking from raw) and stock, and use instead of the flour to thicken? I think this would also cut out the syns from the flour.

      Hi Lianne, I haven't tried freezing it but I don't see why not! Just let it defrost totally before use and heat it with a bit of water stirred through over a relatively low heat and it should be fine! Really glad you liked it :) x

      To hot water, but you can just add it all into the soup and heat it that way, but if you do that just make sure to stir lots to make sure it dissolves!

I wanted to make it as simple as possible as I was so put off all of the super complex ones! Just make sure you squeeze as much water out as you can and don't make it too too thin and you should be fine! Decent baking paper too and Fry Light are always your friends! ? enjoy! X

      Not a silly question at all! I made it in a deep frying pan :) anything with a bit of depth to it will work, and you can grill it in the oven with the door open if you can't fit the whole thing in!

      Hi Lisa, I'm so glad you liked it!! Unfortunately as Slimming World doesn't involve counting calories, and doesn't really fit into a specifically calorie controlled diet (as it's not about limiting) I don't work out the calorie content of my food. I'm sure if you really want to you'd be able to do so from the ingredients but otherwise you can just rest assured that it's a really balanced meal ?

    Wow just made this and it was yummy!! Hubby loved it too and couldn't believe it was low fat. I only used 3tbs of cajun but did add half a red chilli and it had a perfect zing! Used 500g of pasta and had to add a little more water but came out much better than expected.

    Amazing photos. Slimming World burgers are one of my favourite things to make and these look superb! Love the addition of the bacon, I haven't actually tried that on SW burgers before but the recipe sounds really simple which is always a bonus! Lovely post.     Whenever I have made hasselback potatoes before I usually find the middle is still a little raw, unless I cook it for ages or use lots of cooking spray. A handy tip I have learnt, cut them up, then partially cook them in the microwave (5-9 minutes for 4 potatoes), then put them in the oven to finish cooking, crisp up and get that lovely oven baked potato taste, but with less oil.

    OMG my cooking leaves a lot to be desired these days because I have other things I'd rather do!!! This was amazing, my husband actually said EXCELLENT. I used mushrooms (our favorites) because no red peppers left but I think that added to it. I used Piri Piri seasoning because it was all I had and Quark and Parmesan made the sauce AMAZING!!!! I usually stick to tomato based sauces for SW recipes, this has jumped to top of the list. Thank you so much Pamela xx

    Hi Cliona I have just come across your website and subscribed. I have fibromyalgia and an underactive thyroid so I have a very slow metabolism! I've always struggled to lose weight and I'm not much of a cook but am hoping your website will help.       Hi Emma, sorry it has taken me a little bit to get back to you! You can absolutely mix SP days in with regular EE days on Slimming World. Personally I find it too much to do a whole week of SP so tend to do a couple of days to help boost my week. Hope that helps! Really glad you enjoy my blog :) x

    Absolutely delicious. I have just made this for my lunch this week. I substituted the graded cheese for mozzarella, used Arla quark (with garlic and herbs) and also added sweetcorn, peas and mushrooms. Can't wait to eat it. My tater was absolutely amazing. Thankyou.

      Hi Jasmine, I'm not aware of any other icing sugar substitutes unfortunately so you may need to make regular icing on this occasion. Alternatively you could top it with fruit and yogurt or something along those lines!

      Hi there, you're very welcome! I don't have any information on that I'm afraid, although I believe above 16 stone you're allowed more. It's probably best to ask a Slimming World consultant to find out the extract details though!

      Hi Sonia, your cycle does have a huge effect on your weight loss and can cause water retention and bloating which really does make a difference with weight loss. SP doesn't necessarily work straight away and you can sometimes see a result a week or so after, so just keep going and I'm sure you'll see a difference. SP doesn't necessarily work for everyone though, some people just need more carbs in their diet to lose weight! Make sure you're eating enough when you're doing it and ensure you're having both your Healthy Extra B choices as that can help give you the carbs and the fibre you need! Hope that helps, well done for committing to your weight loss :)

        Lorraine: I used creme fraiche the first time I made it because I picked up the wrong tub in Tesco - d'oh! It was lovely, I just had to syn it instead of having a free meal. I'm making it again tonight, and yes, I have fromage frais this time! I won't be using the grated cheese, it was fine without it last time.

      Hi Edith, on SP days you have to eat foods which are designated as either 'Speed' or 'Protein' on Slimming World, plus your Healthy Extras. As yogurts aren't either speed or protein you can't include them in the plan on an SP day. I hope that helps!

      HI Janine, thanks so much, I'm really glad you like the recipe! Yes you could absolutely replace it with sweetener if you wanted to. Just to let you know, under Slimming World's latest rules you need to syn granulated sweetener at half a syn per tablespoon. If there's less than a tablespoon per portion though you don't need to syn it.

    Hi. I am such a fussy eater so find SP days so hard. I usually have poached egg on toast for lunch. Can I add the S by having a fresh fruit meddley after my poached egg on toast? Or does it have to be part of the meal? Not sure what I can put with poached egg on toast lol ?

      The idea of SP is to have half of your meal as speed, however if you're using your Healthy Extra B I know it can be hard to do that! What you don't want to do is eat unnecessary calories just because you feel like you need to eat more speed. You can try adding some cucumber or tomatoes if you like them alongside your poached eggs, but if you don't want to just make sure to have plenty of speed at your other meals!

    I used Worcestershire sauce coz my other half doesn't like soya sauce. Yummy..... I had this as a side veg over two days. I also added it to a breakfast frittata. Soooo good. You have to try it.

    Feeling totally confused. Can I have Aldi FF Banana & Custard Yogurts, 1/2 Syn, (or similar, if the are Syned) for my 5-15 daily Syns? Surely, if I can have chocolate, wine and sweets, for my daily Syns, the yogurt would be better. I love my desserts and am happy with speed fruit and yogurt on my SP days. Please help. xx

      Hi Patricia, unfortuantely you can't have yogurt even if it's a synned variety as it won't be accounting the full amount of syns that you'd need to count and there's no way of working it out. It's best to stick to foods which stick within the SP framework or are fully synned. Hope that helps!

          Hi Anne, tweaks only reference a free food being made into a non free food like flour. For example if this used quinoa as flour then that would be a tweak as you'd be in danger of overeating the quinoa and putting your weight loss at risk. With oats however you are either synning them or using it as your Healthy Extra B and therefore you are limited to the amount you can eat and therefore it isn't a tweak. If you don't use these as your Healthy Extra B then you have to syn the oats as oats, but if you are using your HexB then you can count the oats as syn free for that given quantity. Hope that helps!

    Carrot cake is one of my favorites. The restaurant that catered my wedding actually had a mostly guilt-free carrot cake using quinoa; it was easily the best carrot cake I've ever had in my life but have yet to replicate it. I'll have to try your cake in the meantime. :)

        Hi! Have made this recipe three times in the last two months... I make 12 cupcakes out of this mix, so I can just take one, and know my quantities. But I have two questions about alternatives. 1) Can I use liquid sweetener instead, and how much? 2) Is there an alternative to eggs? Thanks /H

          Hi Henriette, I'm so glad you like the recipe! I think you could certainly use a liquid sweetener, but you would need to adjust the quantities based on whatever sweetener you were using. In terms of egg alternatives, I haven't tried it myself but I know people often use a flaxseed or chia seed mixture instead of eggs for vegan recipes. If you look up substitution quantities you should be able to find the information you need. I'm intrigued to hear how it goes!

    Syn free using your Healthy Extra A on Slimming World.? I notice you say its free if you have 1/6 portion but 6 syns if you have a double portion? How is this if they are all "Free" Ingredients? I notice in the latest SW magazine they make it with Primula Cheese, which makes it 6 syns or free if Using HEA ... But I've not noticed cheese in your recipe.... Unless I'm being blind!!!

            Hi Ethel, you can work out the syn value for each muffin by dividing the total amount of syns by the number so you can even make a smaller batch for more syns per muffin if you like!

      Hi Danni, lovely to hear from you! Congratulations on starting your Slimming World journey! I have a massively sweet tooth so I totally feel your pain! I don't like most sweeteners either but discovered Surkin which is amazing and doesn't have that nasty aftertaste that most sweeteners have! It has the same texture and taste as regular sugar and can be used on a 1:1 substitution for sugar which is great! I'd really recommend getting your hands on some of that as it might help! If you don't like it though, mashed banana can be used to sweeten lots of recipes, such as pancakes or muffins, although you have to remember to syn it as 4 syns per 100g if it's mashed :) hope that helps! Good luck on your journey!

    High Cliona, does turning the oats into a sort of flour increase syn value even more? Only my consultant says that once you alter the natural state if it, it has to be synned ??       Hi Emma, don't worry! It's not a tweak if it's being used as your Healthy Extra B and if you're not using it as that you're synning it anyway so you're not in danger of overeating. A tweak only counts for free foods being used in a different way, for example if quinoa was being used as the flour, this would need to be synned as flour!

      You can save them if there's a special occasion, many people do this a lot but Slimming World don't advise doing it regularly. Instead they suggest being flexible with your syns, still ensuring that you have some syns every day and counting your syns but not beating yourself up if you go over!     We definitely need more "fakeaway" recipes in the U.S. as well! I adore chicken tikka masala, and have almost always made it using yogurt: I with you 100% there, since the flavor doesn't come from the cream (and, in fact, the yogurt imparts a subtle flavor that's quite nice!). Not to mention that yogurt is fantastic for marinating. I can't wait to give your version a try!

    Hello! Sorry i still don't feel like I'm following fully and i don't want hidden syns ?. Does it have to be a wholemeal mix?? And if you make up the pizza bases can they be frozen until next time as long as they are only 60g?

    I'm sure the syns are much higher than stated. The oats are 40g for your hex b then 7 syn s per 40g on top of that. Add the sweetener and it must be at least 30 syns for the whole cake.

    Yummers. Made this yesterday so nice. I couldn't find the special k bars so used 10 Aldi Benefit Light Summer Berry bars (2 are a hexb), i'm also new to slimming world so i synned the sweetner (75g) synning the bars, philly and sweetner it works out at 6syns a slice (10 portions) but I don't know how many syns it would be if I used my hexb and hexa daily allowance for a slice too. Can you help? It would be easy if the bars were 1 for hexb like your recipe but there 2. Sorry for being a pain i just can't get my head around it.

      Absolutely! I love using the passionfruit because it has its own sauce so there is no need to syn any blended fruit but it works very well with other fruit too :)

    Really enjoyed this dish. Was spicy ( which i love ) , i substituted the quark with equal quantity Philadelphia light and it was devine. So creamy . Will most definitely make again. Thumbs up !!!! Great site . Can't wait to try other recipes. X

    I tried these at the weekend. Lovely texture, nice rise, nice taste...until the hideous aftertaste I'd too much artificial sweetener hit. I never usually use artificial sweetener, but family do and agreed that there was too much. I used Canderel...is there a better one for this recipe? All of the SW brownie recipes I find say about the same amount of sweetener but none specify what type, and because I'm a novice with sweetener I have no idea of where to start to modify it myself! Or if I were doing these with sugar how much would I use? If I know that I can calculate how to use Sweet Freedom instead. Thanks!

      Hi Jo, thanks very much for your comment! Since making this recipe I have discovered Sukrin which is a brand of sweeteners that is seriously above and beyond everything else! They have the same texture and consistancy as normal sugar and they're substituted 1:1 which is really handy too (no more using an entire tub for one recipe!). They also don't have the nasty aftertaste either which is a big bonus!

    I couldn't agree with you more! I lost 4 stone several years ago, merrily tweaking all the way. I have been to several different SW groups over the years and have tried to explain my views on tweaks many times with no success. I'm booking marking this post to send people in future!

      Thanks Emma! I just think it needs to be left up to the individual, as you say it worked for you so who's anyone else to tell you it doesn't! Everyone's body is different. I'm 100% behind suggesting that if people tweak and find that they're not losing then it might be the problem, but there's not such thing as a one size fits all weight loss method so it's important to be flexible!

    Use xantham gum to thicken any sauce Syn free too!! Your sweet chilli sauce will be perfectly thick and ready for dipping

    This is a beautiful sounding and looking recipe, Cliona! These sweet pointed peppers are my staple salad ingredient though I've never tried roasting them. The addition of the barley sounds very interesting, not an ingredient I would normally associate with 'stuffing' which makes it all the more appealing here.     Really love your blog! Found you by accident! & glad I did! Your SW recipes are so nice- & i love how you highlight things in your blog & with a click it takes you to the recipe you need - so helpful - love the hunters chicken cant wait to make it as its my favourite 'pub recipe' but havnt had it since joining SW last January & i have lost 2 stone 3 1lb and still homout to eat - I just make better choices , but if i can have things like SW hunters chicken at home well its a win win!!!       Hi Barbara, it would depend on the kind of wine you're drinking but the syns would be the same on both SP and the regular Easy Extra plan :)

      Hi Susannah, you can find the syns for specific items on the Slimming World app or website and if it isn't on there you can use Slimming World's syn calculator to work things out. If there is no free food in the thing you're eating, you can use the 20kcal = 1 syn rule, however this only works for things like sweets, chocolate or crisps. Hope that helps!     At what stage do you return the chicken to the pan? It says to remove it in the first instruction then mentions nothing about when to put it back in.
