No Waste One Pan Gammon & Bean Bake

No Waste - One Pan Gammon & Bean Bake - Iceland Foods - Slimming World - Syn Free - Healthy - Money Saving Recipe

Did you know that UK households waste a massive 7 MILLION TONNES of food every single year? That works out, according to the government agency WRAP, at a loss of £700 per family on average. Just think of what we could all do with that extra £700 each if we simply made an effort to reduce our food waste? Personally it’d go towards a deposit on a house, but you could go on holiday, get a dog, or just put it away for a rainy day. Whatever you’d do with the money, the fact remains that it is ridiculous that we waste so much, something with Iceland believe too, which is why they’ve asked me to come up with a recipe using their food which not only tastes amazing but shows exactly how far one meal can go and how easy it is to reduce waste and save money when cooking! This blog post for my No Waste one Pan Gammon &  Bean Bake doesn’t only give you one recipe, but if you scroll further down gives you TWO MORE recipes for how to use your leftovers and reduce your household waste.  Continue Reading…

Loaded Leek & Potato Bake (Syn Free on Slimming World)

Syn Free Loaded Leek & Potato Bake - Cheese - Bacon - Slimming World

This syn free dish is the answer to all of your winter food prayers, especially if you’re on Slimming World! With seasonal flavours it’s super warming, not to mention loaded with cheese and bacon…what more could you want? I came up with this dish when I looked in the fridge and realised that I had singularly failed on the food shop and subsequently had no food to take into work the next day! There was a lonely packet of leeks, half a packet of bacon, a few other bits and bobs and of course cheese (I may fail to shop but I am never without cheese!). My first thought was to do a leek and potato soup, as I knew we had a bag of potatoes in the cupboard, which would have been lovely, but I’ve eaten quite a lot of soup in the last few weeks and I fancied something a bit more substantial!  Continue Reading…

Low Syn Cream of Chicken Soup (Slimming World)

Low Syn Creamy Chicken Soup - Slimming World - Meal Prep

I’m getting really in to soup at the moment, it’s great for winter and you can make so many delicious low syn varieties for Slimming World! It’s also great for meal prepping as you’re assured to have days worth of healthy lunches in the freezer to take to work! My other half is also getting very into soup, after all it gets cold on building sites at this time of year and it’s always nice to have a warm lunch to take away that chill, proving that soup isn’t just great for slimmers! One of his favourite soups is that Cream of Chicken Soup that Heinz make, but a can of that will set you back 10 syns and and I really try not to have high syn food in the house, and I’m always looking out for his health too, so it was down to me to work out how to make a suitable, low syn equivalent…and that’s how I came up with this!  Continue Reading…

Seriously Simple Syn Free Sushi

Homemade Syn Free Sushi Made With Sushi Bazooka - Slimming World - Healthy Living

Sushi is without a doubt my favourite food! I adore it and consequently spend a ridiculous amount of money on it every month. I also pretend to myself that sushi from my favourite high street restaurants (naming no names) is a lot healthier than it is. The reality however is that proper sushi can be very high in sugar and therefore very high in sys, as well as very unfriendly on your pocket! For a long time I’ve been telling myself that I was going to start making my own sushi at home, but frankly I’m a bit crap at rolling it with the bamboo mat and so I had kind of given up….until I discovered the Sushi Bazooka! As you can see from the video and recipe below, it’s basically the world’s most useful gadget for sushi lovers and helped me knock this perfect sushi out in next to no time at all! Continue Reading…
